The valedictory function 2ndWIPO India Summer School 2017 is scheduled tomorrow i.e. November 17, 2017 at 12 PM at Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur Campus at MIHAN, Wardha Road. Smt. Leena Srivastava, Additional Director General (Training), NADT, Nagpur will be present as chief guest while Dr. Vijender Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, MNLU will preside over the function.
WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization)Academy,a specialised agency of the United Nations, Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Intellectual Propert Management, Nagpur (RGNIIPM), an institute under Ministry of Commerce & Industry and Maharashtra National Law University,Nagpur (MNLU), have jointly organised the WIPO-India Summer School on Intellectual Property, at RGNIIPM, civil lines, Nagpur from November 6 to 17, 2017. 2nd WIPO India Summer School is concluding tomorrow with the final presentations on the outcomes of the group discussions. 48 Participants from various countries including Bangladesh, Korea, India, South Africa, Dubai are participating in the program.
The final day (16 November) of training was held at Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur. In the morning session Sh. D.P. Vaidya a renowned Patent Attorney from “Lakshmikumaran and Sridharan Attorneys”Pune spoke on “Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights” and on “Alternative dispute Resolution in Intellectual Property Disputes: Simulation and exercises”. Mr. Vaidya threw some light on the pertinent issue i.e. Infringement of Intellectual Property Rights and their remedies. He also highlighted the means and ways to resolved the disputes between the right holders and infringers.
Post lunch the participants were divided in four groups for group discussion and each group is being moderated by an expert. The first group discussed on the topic of “IP, Entrepreneurship-Small and Medium-sized Enterprises” moderated by Sh. D.P. Vaidya; the second group discussed on the topic of “Copyright in the Digital Age” moderated by Smt. Geetanjali Visvanathan, Managing Associate, Anand & Anand; the third group discussed “Patent Valuation” moderated by Sh. G. Natraj, Managing partner, Attorney at Law/ Patent Trademark Agents and the fourth group discussed on “Internet and Trademarks” moderated by Smt.Prachi Agarwal, Managing Associate, Anand&Anand.
Programme of the Summer School is being monitored by Prof. (Dr) Vijender Kumar, Vice-Chancellor,MNLU, Nagpur, Sh. Pankaj Borakar, Head-RGNIIPM and Prof. (Dr.) Naresh Kumar Vats.
